In our team meetings, we have started to be more intentional about ring-fencing time for reflection.
We don’t want to shy away from the tough stuff. We never want to just 'talk the talk' about the importance of creating safe spaces to grow, challenge, develop, and be vulnerable. The gold that comes when we choose to sit in these spaces is invaluable.
Here are the three questions that we considered together recently.
❔What does courageous dialogue look and feel like to you?
❔What biases might be influencing decisions and behaviours, and how can we actively challenge them to foster a more inclusive culture?
❔What examples have we seen of value for difference have we seen/heard as a team?
These questions led to rich conversations considering, examples that filled us with hope, complexities that need unpacking, the importance of collective responsibility and actions that need advocating for.
Permission to pause is also a position to move, because when we stop to reflect together, as a diverse group with diverse experiences, we get to move forward with more clarity and compassion.
